In The World 9: On The Taconic and Near Baghdad, is the ninth in my series "In The World." I hoped the paintings would evoke connection, and maybe a strong feeling in the viewer. This painting contrasts a view off the Taconic Parkway, New York, with an Iraqi man tending sheep near Baghdad. The contrast is now the serene lands compared with the terror from the sky in Iraq. A US helicopter is involved in a raid on a nearby village. The Iraq scene is based on a press photo by Jacob Silberberg.
The painting is 24 inches high by 30 inches wide, acrylic on stretched canvas on heavy duty stretchers, with painted sides. A frame is not necessary. It is signed and dated on the back. I send a letter of provenance which increases the value of the work. All my artwork is copyrighted by Eleanor Gilpatrick. Copyright is nontransferable through the purchase of artwork.
Hello!! I am a contemporary realist painter of landscapes, people, still lifes, and abstracts that reflect my love of beauty and the way I see the world. Some paintings deal with peace issues; some are about Climate Change; many have edgy compositions. I never sell prints of my artwork. So, see my descriptions to find out about each piece. Please write to me if you have any questions.
